Information for families

Academy Year 2020/21

Dear Parents,

Lakewood Dance Academy opens for in-person classes Monday, January 4th. We look forward to beginning weekly classes and all the best parts of  the dance education experience; moving and learning together and creating art. There are changes to how we facilitate classes, in order to follow state mandates and keep our community safe, and we want you to know ahead of time what to expect.

Class Sizes / Lobby

As of now, all classes are in person and class sizes are limited. The lobby is closed to visitors and all students must be dropped off at class start time and picked up at the end of class. You may enter the studio for pick up and drop off. The exception is Parent/Tot dance class. A parent or guardian may accompany their student ages 1-3 to class.

Face Coverings

Everyone entering the building and the studio must be wearing a mask. Students ages 10+ wear masks during class and students 9 and younger have the option to wear or not wear a face covering. We encourage students that are able to wear one to do so and we will ask them to follow their parent's guidance.

COVID-19 Positive Students or Faculty

If a teacher tests positive for COVID-19 Lakewood Dance Academy will move classes to a virtual format (Zoom) for the required quarantine time. All classes will remain at their same date and time if they go virtual.

If a student tests positive for COVID-19 then all classes in contact with that student will go to virtual for one week (putting two weeks of time between in-person instruction). All other classes remain in-person. Teachers in contact with a positive student will quarantine and we will sub out classes until the teacher can get tested and a negative test result.

Before Class

1. Please take your child’s temperature at home before coming to class. As a parent of a low-grade temp child (“normal” for us is 97) I believe that you are the best person to assess changes to your child’s health. If your child is sick, please stay home.

2. Talk with your child about expectations at the studio. Students need to follow directions and keep their bodies to themselves. There are spatial markings on the floor to indicate where to sit or stand at different times.

3. Drop-off and pick-up should be a quick in and out and parents need to wear masks.

I hope this is helpful in your planning. Please let me know if you have further questions or if I can help. Our staff is committed to creating meaningful and engaging experiences for our students while maintaining the highest standards of health and safety. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Please note that LDA is hosting a Remote Learning Camp beginning August 24th for families that need assistance during remote learning. Details and registration are on the Classes page.

Thank you! See you soon!

Tuition

Tuition is due on the 5th of each month for classes and camps in the coming month. Summer camps and classes are one time payments. Weekly classes during the school year are due monthly. We do not charge registration fees.
